Delhi Tightens Security and Building Safety Ahead of BRICS Summit

New Delhi is entering a heightened security phase ahead of the BRICS Summit on September 12–13, with thousands of security personnel, surveillance measures and traffic controls being deployed around key routes and venues.

At the same time, authorities are intensifying action against unsafe and unauthorised buildings following the deadly Satya Niketan collapse. The MCD has begun demolitions, sealing properties and ordering structural audits as concerns grow over hazardous constructions across the capital.

The twin focus on summit security and urban safety reflects Delhi’s effort to protect both visiting world leaders and its own residents during a critical week for the capital.
